Senior Game Designer
Reach Games is seeking Game Designers! The Game Designer creates large sections of the design singly or as part of a group, based on the Game Design Document or direction from the Lead Designer. They will work with the design team to refine the design vision, and set a professional example in all phases of the creative and design process.
The candidate should possess excellent communication skills. You need to be able to operate effectively in a team environment, take feedback and direction from team members and provide feedback when necessary.
The Game Designer will devise, document, review, revise & communicate the development project’s vision to the development team and all other interested parties. They will implement, review and revise the game play content to meet the project’s objectives (to make a great game that plays well).
They will be responsible for assisting in the creation of the documentation describing the look, feel and operation of the game from start to finish. This covers all aspects of the game, from the start up menu through the levels, graphics, audio, AI, physics, controls through to the end credits.
- Crafts quality, fun designs, appropriate to genre, demographic, and platform
- Demonstrates a high level of creativity and innovation in computer and video game design
- Effectively designs major game features within given constraints, including adjusting and adapting designs if necessary
- Writes thorough and complete feature documentation
- Communicates designs clearly to other teams members
- Works with the development team to ensure timely design buy-in
- Keeps members of the development team in the communication loop as designs evolve and are finalized
- May be called upon to creates, prioritizes, and manages schedules for self and for the team
- Mentors and helps to grow designers and designer associates
- Maintains a working awareness of trends in the industry, but in aspects of gameplay as well as concepts
- Maintains a working awareness of trends in popular entertainment culture, such as television, film, music, etc
- Has an understanding of various game construction aspects, such as the use of tools, scripting vs. event implementation, etc
- Writing background and/or creative writing experience not required, but strongly preferred
- 5 - 8 years of game design experience desired
- Shipped at least two titles as designer or senior designer, from concept through on the retail shelf
- Strong ability to create fresh, new designs or to enhance existing ones
- Ability to evaluate existing and competitive products from the design perspective
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in large groups, including strong interpersonal skills
- Experience managing and supervising direct reports is a plus
- Excellent MS Word, Excel, and Project skills
- Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change
- Bachelor´s (BA) degree from accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience

- Demo reels should only be submitted as DVD (QuickTime Movies preferred), or personal website as we do not accept VHS.
- A detailed summary/shot list of what your particular contributions were and which software you used.
- Resume (Hardcopy resume included with demo submission)
- Demos no longer than 3 to 5 minutes in length.
